Back From The Other Island

Wow.
New York City was beyond all my expectations.
I'm completed saturated with extravagant memories of beauty in people, nature, music, colours, smoke, and the constant vibe of creativity, communication, and consumerism. My best experience was cycling from Midtown to the tip of Manhattan-over the Manhattan Bridge to Brooklyn then back over the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan. A bicycle/pedestrian trail encircles Manhattan and there are bike lanes throughout the downtown core. A spectacular way to see the neighborhoods. I took this shot on my way back to Manhattan.

Interesting how different people perceive the same place. For me, NYC is fast (too fast), with no time to get your bearings. This photo almost makes it look tranquil! I can't even imagine riding a bike in NYC (or driving in Manhattan for that matter).

Your photo, however, makes me think of what people where thinking as they left Manhattan on 9/11 or after the black out in the summer of 2003. People walked home to Brooklyn and Queens. It must have been so surreal.

Wonderful photo! You sound very energised by your time in NYC.

I should really get there one day...
